Having a heads up on what easy to use tips and tools can give you a head start as a family. \u00a0See which of these ideas can make life better for you and your family.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Time tips<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Want to know where everyone is going and what activities are coming up? \u00a0Use a google calendar for everyone to add their dates and activities. \u00a0It\u2019s a quick view of what\u2019s going on for everyone. \u00a0Review your calendar at your <a href=\"https:\/\/professional-organizer.com\/WordPress\/tag\/family-meeting\/\">family meeting<\/a>. Front load your calendar with school dates and upcoming family vacations.<\/li>\n<li>Place analog clocks in all transition areas. An analog clock clicks in time passing and time awareness. \u00a0Those transition areas include bathrooms where time can pass without acknowledgement. Talk to your kids as you place these. \u00a0Remind them these are placed to help you be on time and know what time it is.<\/li>\n<li>Set up rewards for everyone for being on time. \u00a0Find a \u201ccheap thrill\u201d such as $5 Friday Smoothies as a reward for being on time and replacing a meal. \u00a0The small incentives prompt positive behavior and makes family time together more fun.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Decluttering<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Taking care of space and taking care of stuff is harder for families with ADHD. Be sure everything has a home so that there is always a way to maintain your organizing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Structure a decluttering session monthly. \u00a0You can have a Purge and Pizza party to get everyone involved. During your pizza party, \u00a0have a f<\/span><span class=\"s1\">amily discussion on decluttering, what was easy and what was hard.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Create natural consequences for things left behind. Strategize with your child as a coach on how to \u201cremember\u201d such as setting up visual reminders or alarms.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Build in time to reset your stuff weekly. \u00a0A <a href=\"https:\/\/professional-organizer.com\/WordPress\/how-to-organize-a-busy-family-schedule\/\">family reset time<\/a> includes getting items back to homes, getting ready for the week, and restocking items.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Emotional regulation<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.additudemag.com\/emotional-regulation-skills-adhd-children\/\">Emotional regulation<\/a> skills help everyone keep it together, even when the going gets rough.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Everything is better with a good night\u2019s sleep. Promote good sleep with a common charging space, a sound machine, time to unwind, a lavender bath and an early start. Encourage one night a week of an early bedtime.<\/li>\n<li>Catch your family doing \u201cgood stuff.\u201d Give praise and encouragement whenever you see it. A \u201cticket\u201d or positive note give your kiddo a physical reminder and recognition.<\/li>\n<li>The green space is where we all feel better. \u00a0Exercise can include walking the dog, joining a team, a solo sport like tennis, horse back riding, or going to the pool.<\/li>\n<li>When life gets chaotic, think about adding structure. Some families call this guardrails,, boundaries or just plain rules. If your kiddo is not ready to be out to dinner at 8 pm since it\u2019s past bedtime, if eating sugar adds to poor choices or if too many clothes are cluttering your kiddo\u2019s floor, it\u2019s time to introduce structure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Life in your family with ADHD can be bumpy.
