Busy?\u00a0Busier than ever?\u00a0Never thought you would be this busy?\u00a0How is it we never have enough time?<\/p>\n<p>No matter our age or stage, we all feel and deal with time issues.\u00a0 We lack of control of our schedule with too many demands, too many balls in the air and too many meetings.\u00a0 Having no time means we have disorganized space.\u00a0 There are so many interruptions and distractions.\u00a0 Tasks take longer than we think.\u00a0 If you are organized, you think you can squish in just a little more. \u00a0Is it <em>time<\/em> for a change?<\/p>\n<p>How we use our time comes down to creating a new awareness of it and a baby step to make change happen.\u00a0\u00a0 The first step is the awareness of how you use your time.\u00a0 Ask yourself some questions.\u00a0 What is working well?\u00a0 Are you getting places on time? Are you always on the go, with too much to do? Do you feel like you are productive and get tasks done? Do your planner and task list work well for recording commitments and tasks? Now ask yourself what is not working! That is where your first baby step will start.<\/p>\n<p>Not getting places on time<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Set a timer to alert you 15 minutes before you want to leave.\u00a0 This gives you time to gather up and get going.<\/li>\n<li>Plan on arriving early.\u00a0\u00a0 You get the best seat, you stress less about parking and traffic, and you are in prime position for whatever you are doing.\u00a0\u00a0 Bring your magazines to read now!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Always on the go with too much to do<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Everything can\u2019t be equally important to you.\u00a0 Assess if you need to join both girl scouts and adventure princesses, volunteer for church and PTA, and work second and third jobs.\u00a0 Spend time thinking about what you want to commit to for now.\u00a0 One of my favorite sayings is, \u201cwe can do it all, just not all at the same time.\u201d\u00a0 Simplify your time with one big commitment at a time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Day to day productivity<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Put the big rocks in first, as said by productivity guru Stephen Covey.\u00a0 Be sure you know what the big rocks are for your job and get these done early in the day.<\/li>\n<li>If you are smothered by small tasks at work, group them together and consolidate to be more effective.\u00a0 Having a call list, an email list, and an errand list for work to group and conquer!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Your Calendar and Task list<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First decide if you are a paper or technology person.\u00a0 See what works best for you and all the jobs you have, including parenting.\u00a0 You can cover a\u00a0 lot of ground with the google calendar to match up to your partner.\u00a0 If you love paper, think about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plannerpads.com\/\">www.plannerpads.com<\/a>.\u00a0 It consolidates your tasks and your calendar.<\/li>\n<li>Find a work flow that works with your style.\u00a0 With your family, host a family meeting weekly to update your calendar.\u00a0 At work meet with your assistant or colleagues to be sure you are on top of dates.\u00a0 Having partners makes the process more effective and fun!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a long list!\u00a0 Please pick just one of these baby steps to own this year.\u00a0 You will be glad you did!\u00a0 Please share with us your choice and how it is working for you!
