Take all your stuff, stuff it in a box, stuff it in a truck or storage, and unstuff it! Now this is not for sissies!\u00a0 In the last few weeks several moving jobs have been a priority. So here is a short list of what I have learned.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Declutter.<\/h3>\n<p>You have less, you have less to pack. It is as simple as that. Live a life of relationships, not stuff.\u00a0 Begin decluttering as soon as you learn you are moving. Even better, declutter regularly.\u00a0 Remember that game, if I had to move to Australia, what would I take?\u00a0 Not much.\u00a0 So really be decisive about what is important to keep.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Be prepared.<\/h3>\n<p>Moving requires planning and preliminaries.\u00a0 Have sources ready for boxes (craigslist.com or uline.com) and paper.\u00a0\u00a0 Scope out storage and\u00a0movers from reliable sources.\u00a0 Do your homework to have reliable professionals in handling your stuff.\u00a0 Have lots of sharpies for writing on the boxes too!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Do sweat the small stuff.<\/h3>\n<p>It really is important to keep up with the details.\u00a0 Get your paper out and <a title=\"Ellen's Blog Lists that really work\" href=\"http:\/\/professional-organizer.com\/WordPress\/tag\/lists\/\" target=\"_blank\">keep a long list!\u00a0<\/a> Label all the boxes with the list of stuff in them. Keep a list of the boxes.\u00a0 Label by room, name of person&#8217;s stuff and what is in there.\u00a0\u00a0 Pack your first night bag &#8211;\u00a0the stuff you need as soon as you arrive in your new destination.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Get help.<\/h3>\n<p>The more the merrier! If you have kids, be sure to plan for babysitters. Having a lot of help makes the work more fun and faster.\u00a0 Set aside specific times you are working and provide beverage and snacks for the worker bees.\u00a0 Delegate\u00a0tasks by each team member&#8217;s strengths. Who is\u00a0good at packing china or babysitting the buddies?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Take good care of yourself. Plenty of rest, fruit for snacks and don&#8217;t over do what you are capable of doing.\u00a0\u00a0 Leave the really heavy stuff for the professionals!<\/p>\n<p>Wishing you a successful move, wherever that may be.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Moving is an arduous task at best.
