While <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/simple-tips-to-help-you-spring-forward-smoothly-daylight-saving-time\/\">not something easy to embrace<\/a>, the extra sunshine at the end of the day is a bonus.\u00a0\u00a0 What ways can we use that daylight hour to Spring Forward take better care of ourselves as well?\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a few ideas I have.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Sunny, happy times<\/h3>\n<p>Research shows the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/depression\/benefits-sunlight#Overview1\">value of sunshine on our emotional well bei<\/a>ng. Longer days mean more sunshine.\u00a0 Sunlight cues seratonin, boosting your mood, helping you be calm and helping you stay focused.\u00a0 Getting 15 minutes of sunshine boosts Vitamin D which helps bone health.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Time for exercise<\/h3>\n<p>Studies show that <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.fitbit.com\/the-magic-of-10000-steps\/\">walking 10,000 steps in a da<\/a>y helps us keep active both physically and mentally.\u00a0 With busy days that start early, the sunny evening time is great for a walk. Walking with your partner and kids is a bonus time for communication and sharing what&#8217;s happened that day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Time for dinner<\/h3>\n<p>Longer daylight hours give us extra time to prepare dinner. Sitting down to dinner during daylight energizes you and your family.\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/thefamilydinnerproject.org\/\">Family Dinner<\/a> project shares ways to include easy meals to help you get dinner on the table.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Routines that make the most of extra daylight<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>End your day with meditation with the Headspace app.<\/li>\n<li>Create a checklist for routines with dinner, including family members cooking and cleaning together.<\/li>\n<li>Plan time for exercise with a family walk or bike ride.<\/li>\n<li>Create a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webmd.com\/sleep-disorders\/spring-forward-with-10-sleep-tips\">good sleep routine<\/a> by stopping technology an hour before bedtime, keeping your bedtime the same, and keeping clutter out of your bedroom.<\/li>\n<li>Spend 15 minutes with <a href=\"https:\/\/professional-organizer.com\/WordPress\/spring-clean-organize-your-closet\/\">spring organizing <\/a>at the end of your day.\u00a0 Daylight will keep you energized.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By embracing this change, like all other changes, you will find more order and productivity in your day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Each morning I am noticing the sun rising earlier, indicating it&#8217;s almost time for us to Spring Forward with a time change.
